The 1000-Mile Doublehanded 2008 consists of 5 legs between Holland , UK (Newcastle). Norway (Bergen) and the Shetland Islands (Lerwick) - and finishes in Newcastle.

The legs 3 and 4 are also part of the Shetland-Bergen Races 2008, so prizes will be awarded in both Lerwick and Bergen. The winner of the 1000-Mile Doublehanded will be announced at the awards ceremony in Autumn 2008.
All experienced sailors seeking serious short-handed sailing competition. Your boat must be 27 ft LOA or more, and manned by two people. At least one crewmember must complete the entire race. The only exception is the Open650 class, which will be held if sufficient registrations are received. To qualify, a non-stop cruise in open sea must be made.
We're not just in this to tackle the elements - we want to enjoy the company of our fellow sailors. So we designed the 1000-Mile Doublehanded with fleet restarts at the beginning of each leg, so all competitors, be they fast or not-so-fast, stay together and enjoy the fun at every stopover.
