VisitShetland, Market Cross, Lerwick, Shetland, ZE1 0LU, UK
Shetland's extensive and accessible coastline offers a paradise for sea kayakers. There are hundreds of miles of cliffs and deserted beaches, countless sea caves including some of the Europe's finest. Enjoy awesome cliff scenery, stacks, arches and sheltered inlets. Remote and unhabited islands are just waiting to be explored. There are large colonies of seals and seabirds, many of them readily accessible from the sea. There are also opportunities to look for whales and the elusive otters.
The tradition of sea kayaking in Shetland goes back many years, and there is an active local club which welcomes visitors. It is also possible to take an organized trip with all essential equipment provided, led by an experienced local guide. Introductory sessions are available for new paddlers.
For information on guided sea kayak expeditions see the Sea Kayak Shetland website.
