Quality Assurance

Properties are quality graded using the VisitScotland Quality Assurance Star Grading Scheme. This national standard, works all year assessing standards for our visitors. The scheme is an objective assessment, gives a clear indication of cleanliness, ambience, hospitality, service, accommodation standard and food.

Using a scale of 1 - 5 stars, it provides the reassurance you need about what to expect before you arrive. Based on visitor research, this Scheme allows you to distinguish between the quality of the accommodation, and the number of facilities on offer. The 5 star scheme shows the wide range of standards suitable for every budget and preference.

The variety of accommodation such as Hotels and B&Bs, through to Inns, Lodges, Restaurant with Rooms and Self Catering can be seen clearly.

With these reliable Quality Assurance schemes, you can trust VisitScotland, knowing that Quality Advisors have done all the research, so that you can relax and enjoy your holiday.

Place with a concern for the environment can take part in the Green Tourism Business Scheme and their efforst to operate in an environmentally friendly way are graded with Bronze, Silver or Gold (leaf symbol).

Visitors with disabilities can be sure that the accommodation matches their requirements by looking for the VisitScotland assessment for either unassisted wheelchair access, assisted wheelchair access or access for visitors with mobility difficulties.
